The NXT Invasion

This Monday Nights raw was a 3 hour viewers choice special. Where viewers could vote on several things throughout the night, including Tag Partners, opponents and match stipulations.

Raw for 2 hours 45 minutes of it was lackluster, with some "funny" moments, Kozlov's dancing was assuming to watch, but most of the matches and segments did NOTHING to hype up the upcoming fatal four way PPV at all and was just a one night thing, something WWE is good at the moment.

The main event was John Cena verses a chosen CM Punk (why the wwe universe didnt choose Rey or the champion is beyond me). The match itself was good, a proper feud between the two should be a hit in the future, but the match is not what this Raw will be remembered.

About 10 minutes into the match, recent NXT season one winner Wade Barrett entered the ring. After slowly walking the to ring, all seven of the other rookies surrounded the ring and quickly attacked CM Punk's straight edge society. Once the SES was eliminated the rookies then surrounded Cena in the ring. After a few seconds of watching Cena think "sh!t" the rookies then attacked Cena. They didnt just attack Cena they destroyed him. Once Cena was down, the rookies then began their damaging attack, attacking Matt Striker, Jerry Lawler, Josh Roberts and various over officals and staff ringside including a cameraman, then started destroying everything that was ringside, from chairs, matts, barriers to the ring. Once the rookies left the ring after 10 minutes of destruction a stretcher helped Cena out of the ring.

WOW!!!!! The winds of change are truly happening in the WWE, this was completely unexpected and very graphic especially for a PG program. This type of "gang" war style of attack hasnt been seen in the WWE for years. Neither has something so shocking has been seen since the eventful Paul Heymans ECW invasion back in 2001.

So what does this mean? Well judging by FCW tv previews the main event continued the nxt invasion theme, i havent read it as I want to watch FCW first without spoiling it but it seems that the WWE have full faith in the NXT rookies and this invasion. Obviously winner Wade Barrett will be the ring leader of the gang. This will give him incredible heat for the upcoming months.

Now it was obvious that a few of the rookies, notably Justin Gabriel and Daniel bryan looked very uncomfortable with the viscous attack, I have a feeling that they will be quickly kicked out to keep them faces.

But it is very interesting to see where the WWE is going, especially with the quickening shortage of Main event stars, last week they made Evan Bourne look a million dollars, now the ball is in Wade Barretts hands and what a choice. This guy has impressed everyone on NXT, he has the look, the in ring skills, his mic skills are fantastic (check out his work as a commentator on FCW TV if you don't believe). He is the future of the WWE and a fresh new look to the WWE. Lets just hope WWE dont give up like they always seem to do....
